Abercrombie & Fitch Picks

anf

*This post is not sponsored, I just love these items

Okay... Cat's out of the bag. I work for Abercrombie & Fitch again. For two years I worked at Hollister, one of AnF's stores, but last week I started my new position over at Abercrombie! Abercrombie's style has drastically evolved in the past couple of years and has turned into one of my favorite places to shop. I find myself shopping a lot while working... ;) I'm currently obsessed with the items we have in store - how perfect is this fitted rain parka?! I need to get my hands on it! I thought it would be fun to showcase the items I'm lusting over. Luckily for me, AnF currently has 40% off the lowest price on clearance items, which means I bought a sweatshirt, shorts, and a skirt for less than $35!

Anyways, I love working for AnF. I know I'm good at my job and really love all my managers and coworkers. Today is my 11th day in a row working, which makes me so much closer to buying myself a car! I'm getting a lot of hours (almost full time), which is tiring, but so worth it.

What items are you obsessing over this fall? Any specific brands?
Cheers!

Military Jacket Collab!

A military jacket collab - what better way to start off the week? My friend Jennifer, a youtuber at makeupbyjenn9, and I decided it would be fun to team up and show off how we style our military jackets for this fall! If you don't follow her, you definitely need to. She's the sweetest and so fun to work with! You can visit her Instagram and Twitter here.

With fall around the corner, investing in a nice jacket was a great choice for me. Our fall and winters here in the PNW last a long time, but thankfully aren't too dramatic. I picked up this amazing J.Crew Factory field jacket (unavailable online, retail here). I paired it with this polka dot peplum top I bought from Nordstrom Rack a couple of years ago, some skinny jeans from Forever21,  and silver flats from JC Penny. For info on Jennifer's outfit, visit her Instagram!

Also, my best friend from college, Johnny, stopped by my house on his way back up to school! He's from San Francisco and drove 14 hours. Crazy, right?! I offered my house for him to stay so he didn't have to keep on driving and I'm so glad he took it - it was so nice to see him!

Where are you buying your military jackets?
Cheers!

Instagram + Vacation Recap

{instagram}
Happy Friday! I've really been slacking on the blog posts... I've also been on vacation, so can you blame me? If you follow me on Instagram (which you should!), you would have seen a few of these photos already. Even though it's September, I've still been in summer mode. I spent a week in Chelan, Washington, with my boyfriend and a few friends, where it was 85 all weekend. It felt amazing! We spent time kayaking, riding a ski-doo, laying in the sun, swimming, and cooking up all our own meals. It was so nice to get away for a little bit and enjoying some quality time with Chris before he goes back to school next week - I still can't believe he's a junior in college. What?!

Though summer is my favorite season, it's time to say goodbye. I even whipped out my J.Crew Factory field jacket yesterday (retail jacket here). Here's a little look into my Instagram and what's been going on with me lately!

Why Leaving my University was the Best Decision I've Made

There are a lot of things that aren't shared about going off to college for the first time. Like, what do you do when you're walking down the hall in nothing but a towel after you've showered and there's a group of guys hanging outside someone's door? Do you run to the bus if you're about to miss it, or just wait for the next one in 10 minutes? How do you find a seat in the library without looking like a lost freshman (even though you totally are)? When you go off to college, you learn a lot through experience. Most of it is something you can't learn anywhere else or understand unless you're there. That's why I made the decision to go to a four year right out of high school.

Let me back up by saying that it's pretty normal not to attend a four year right away in my area. It's common for people to go to a two year community college, earn their associates, then transfer to a bigger four year. It's done for many reasons: financial, academic, personal. I knew that it was definitely a possibility after I didn't get into my first choice school (college rejection advice here), but I wanted to have that four year experience, so I attended a four year that I honestly didn't want anything to do with. I gave that school a chance, made some amazing friends, created great memories, and did what I could to become involved on campus, but it wasn't a place I was happy (you can read about that here). I made the choice not to come back, and that might be the best decision I've ever made.

For a long time (and still if I'm feeling sad about school), I felt like a loser for not going back to a four year. I didn't want to look like someone who was dropping out of college, who didn't care, and didn't want to be in school. That's far from the truth. I really, really want a bachelor's degree and to be furthering my education. I know where I want to get and I know that I can't get there without a college degree. I also know that by going to a community college for a year or so, I'll be able to transfer to a school that I'm happy at and feel like I belong, something I didn't feel at my old school.

Leaving my four year has opened up different doors for me. I am now much happier knowing I don't have to go back (I always dreaded going back at the end of the weekend), can get a job since I have transportation (that aren't city busses), and surround myself with people that I love. I'm also saving money and have the time to focus on myself and my happiness more. The downside of community is not having a real college experience or community on campus. The attitude is much different: people don't really care to treat it like a university, since it isn't.

I felt a lot of pressure to stay at my four year because it was a four year, but after making the decision to leave, I feel amazing. I am so much happier and know I can now apply to different schools with a great chance of being accepted. I'm realizing more and more every day that this experience is my experience, and I shouldn't let anyone's negativity change what would make me happy. In order to be the best student I can be, I need to make sure I'm mentally in a great, positive place. That place for me wasn't my four year.

Cheers!

Stationery Steal

Let's be real for a moment: all bloggers love stationery. It's an unwritten but well established rule that everyone seems to follow. Anything from cute post it notes, to journals, to greeting cards can be guaranteed several likes on Instagram and be the perfect addition to a desk or building a special relationship between bloggers. My only issue is the price tag. I'm not a huge fan of spending $45 on a box of 20 blank greeting cards (#sorrynotsorry). What I am a fan of is picking up the cutest greeting cards from TJ Maxx for less than $5 a box. You read that right: less than $5 a box.

Places like TJ Maxx and Marshalls are my go-to places when buying greeting cards. I can always find something adorable, bright, gold, and a crazy-low price! My favorite part of shopping at those stores is the idea of "little treasures," finding things you didn't know you needed (or actually didn't need, but bought anyways). I found these greeting cards the other day on a small trip to my local TJ Maxx and knew I wasn't walking out of there without them. How cute are they?!

I didn't purchase this gold foil notebook, but it was cute enough to snap a pic!

Small Space Inspiration

I'm not a girl that can keep my room in one way for too long. I love to switch things up: rearrange furniture, hang up new photos and posters, and occasionally paint. It's just so fun and refreshing to change up a space! It's so important to make your room a place you love and want to spend time in. I couldn't imagine hating my room and having it not express who I am! My room is where my desk (more like vanity) is, all my clothes, and honestly, most of my stuff. Very little of my belongings are in other places of the house. I'm in the process of deep cleaning my room right now. I'm talking throwing out tons of stuff, getting rid of clothes, and keeping it somewhat minimal (I'm not so great at the whole minimalism thing). That being said, I thought it would be fun to share some things inspiring my current room change! I'm really feeling pinks, whites, blues, and gold. Can you blame me? ;)
